So Monday was a day full of doctors, including taking Tyler to get his ankle checked. He rolled it on April 26th, his bad ankle that he twisted years ago on a Halloween night in the dark - and he's been walking on it ever since. He mentioned on Sunday when we picked him up that the nursing students he hangs out with all kinda freaked out when he showed them what it looks like - and I'm not surprised. All black and blue, and lumpy - swollen but not in a "whole ankle is swollen" kind of way.
Got there (pediatrician - it's scary - all the little kids in the waiting room, and then Ty - it was like a scene from Elf where Buddy the elf hangs out with Santa's elves) - the doctor agreed it looks not right - sent us for an xray. He checked, and said "Hmm...either he has a lot of accessory bones, or he fractured his 5th metasomethingorother - I can't tell, I'll wait for the radiologist to read it". In the meantime he gave him an air cast and crutches to use as needed.
Got a call yesterday - "Yeah...the radiologist read it...and he either has a lot of accessory bones or he fractured it...can't really be sure".
So we're to RICE it, and if it doesn't improve in a week, go to see an orthopedic specialist.
...
So when he was there, they had to measure him for his crutches - and the kid freaking GREW AGAIN. He's now officially 6'5 1/4". His crutches come up to my chin.
