Cold has moved to the productive cough stage, and not being at work was causing a lot of stress so I came to work. Driving here, I kept thinking "this is a bad idea"...feeling slightly "off", as in dizzy/distracted, and my exhaustion is at a 7 out of 10, but at the same time it makes me feel in control to be here. Of course, my tissue box is empty... LOL
Tyler came home last night from his 3 day hike. He called before dinner saying he was coming, and I started to ask him why, but I could tell he was holding back tears/frustration, so I let it go. When he got home, it turned out that he was having major muscle cramps in his legs during the uphill portions of the hike, and the instructors were saying that the next day was bad in terms of being 6 miles from the nearest road, so to be safe he got sent home, along with another kid having worse issues, and 2 instructors. (Funny - the guy at the EMS store told us that this trail is a difficult one, so for Ty to make it 10 miles after a basically sendentary lifestyle was great). Turns out too that Ty got dehydrated - he has issues with that, it usually sets off a migraine of epic proportions - Ty's partner mistakenly dumped the water they were supposed to drink, so they had to use water meant for cleaning at the camp, so it was portioned out.
Ty is angry at himself, and worried his dad is disappointed in him, and apparently ONE kid made fun of him, but he's not quitting the club. He still wants to do the night hike (way less milage) and the three day solo camping experience (no hiking once you hit your spot...it's about survival not hiking).
Breathing is tight today, headache moderate, I'm going to pace myself to get through the day, and REMEMBER TO DRINK. No more dehydration.
