She got back to me on the question of Zetia, after the news reports that it is not of any benefit - she said that the study referenced in the news reports has not been published yet, so we're changing a course of treatment based on news reports alone - but that if there's any chance that harm could be caused, she thinks we should remove that treatment. She wants to replace it with a powder that I would take by mixing it with water or juice - Questran. My only concern is how will it impact my IBS - reading the IBS boards I trust, I see that this drug is ALSO prescribed for IBS symptoms, as well as for a huge majority of folks who had their gallbladders out, because what it does is bind with the bile in the intestines, which is where the bad cholesterol is as well. Problem is that most of the folks who have taken this for IBS have taken it for IBS-D, which is opposite of my issue - and constipation is a side effect - but at the same time they report relief from painful bloating and gas as well, so I'm willing to give it a shot.
Waiting to see what she says.
