Spent Saturday just driving - went out to the Yankee Candle Village about 2 hours from the house - it was nice enough to have the top down on the way out, but the rain started on the way home - didn't dampen the day though. Also went to the Wachusett Brewery and stumbled into a tour of the brewery, which was cool - although that place is TINY (of course I'm comparing it to the Bud plant...).
Yesterday went out to breakfast to try a little local place, turned out to be a mistake - not good - stomach ache ensued. However, felt good enough to go visit Kelsey in the afternoon. Left 2 hours before we were to meet her, and then sun came out just in time - driving down 128 and a car pulls up next to us with someone yelling at us - turned out to be my brother and his friend. He followed us into Peabody to say hi, then headed his own way. The traffic getting into Salem wasn't bad until we got into Downtown Salem - then it was ridiculous. Not just cars in the way - PEOPLE. PEOPLE EVERYWHERE all dressed as witches and skeletons and whatever they wanted. And it turned out that it was the 25th anniversary of a motorcycle ride from Everett to Salem - and of course we got there right when they were hitting Salem. Sat in traffic as more than 1000 motorcycles rode by. Kinda cool.
We were still there early so went to Marblehead Neck - one of my favorite places on earth. Walked around the beach a bit, then met Kelsey and took her and Eddie to Unos (no WAY were we going back into downtown Salem like we had planned). Then got a tour of her new dorm/apartment, hadn't seen it yet - not bad. First 2 story dorm I've seen, Kelsey's room is on the second floor, it's cool.
More family suddenly coming over from Holland, this Friday - so we'll have everyone over Sunday again - telling both kids to plan to be there. Ty is doing a 24 hour game jam (they get together and in 24 hours they create a video game in teams - winners get cash) and said he'd come after - um no. No driving an hour after not sleeping.
Getting very excited - turns out that Glenn's company has been hired to do a dinner with one of my favorite bands EVER mid November in Lowell. Kelsey is working it, Tyler and I will get tickets, hopefully for the dinner seats...and get to meet them. =D Cue the excited squees.
Not going off the Detrol LA this week like planned - reading up on it, it takes about 6 weeks for your body to become adjusted to it. I'm just at that point now. I'm giving it another week and I'll see how it is. I might ask the dr for a lower dose. I don't want to stop taking it because in terms of what it's supposed to do, it's really working great - SUCH a difference - I don't want to go backwards there. But I also don't want to hurt again. We'll see.
Off to work...
