Title: Paid in Blood
Author: Setosgirl
Rating: PG
Word Count: 849
Characters: D, Toutetsu
Notes: I heart Toutetsu/D! Why aren’t there more fics…? Come on, it’s practically canon! Sure, he was just trying to eat him, but Toutetsu sure as hell seduced him… or maybe they seduced each other… whatever. ^_^ Anyway, this was supposed to be a T-chan/D fic, and it never quite progressed properly to Yaoi, but I tried. Hey, if anyone knows of any fics with the pair, could you tell me? ^^ Thanks!
Summary: D gives T-chan a little treat, in exchange for a favor…

Paid in Blood

The Toutetsu was drawn irrefusably toward the front of the store, though he couldn’t have said why. Something was pulling him forward. Eve when Chris tried to ask him what was going on, he just growled at him and walked on.

D was bent over the low table as he approached, seemingly unaware of his presence. He couldn’t see what he was doing, as all the angle afforded him was a nice view of his slim, silk-clad behind.

“Count?”

D straightened up and turned around, exposing the table. “Hello, T-chan… I see you knew I wanted you. Your senses are as strong as ever.”

Toutetsu barely spared him a glance, though, his eyes locked on the table as the sharp scent of what it bore invaded his nostrils. It was bare but for a single tall glass filled almost to the brim with a thick crimson liquid.

“Count?” He glanced back at him, still standing in the doorway. For the first time, he realized that they were completely alone. Not a single other one of the Count’s pets was around to intrude, and the shop was closed already. While not an entirely new experience, it was rare enough to be of note. “Is that…?”

“You deserve it,” D said. “After the treats you showered me with.” He sat down and gestured for T-chan to do likewise on the couch opposite him. Without the slightest hesitation, he took the offered seat, valiantly crushing is nervousness beneath his carefree exterior. He took the glass and spent a moment just savoring the heady scent of it that sent him spiraling into the depths of absolute connoisseur bliss.

“You never got to have your dessert,” D explained, watching him. He only nodded, more taken with the treat in front of him. He had yet to taste it, but the anticipation alone was enough to savor. “And you did treat me with the most wonderful ones…” His voice acquired a somewhat dreamy lilt, evidently at the memory of the sweets Toutetsu had so painstakingly concocted in the pursuit of him.

H lifted his eyes to D again, still not having taken that first sip. “This is yours?”

D inclined his head.

“You’re not even human,” he pointed out; he had been operating under the illusion that he was, when he had been after him.

“It will be far better than any human blood you have ever tasted,” D promised, with the same type of smile normally reserved for customers.

He couldn’t quite shake the feeling that he was buying something - but even if so, this was too tempting to pass up even for one of the Count’s prices. He raised the glass briefly toward D and gulped almost half of the thick, somehow still warm liquid, letting it slide around over his tongue, reveling in the familiar coppery taste. D was right, though; his blood was like nothing he had ever tasted. He didn’t know why it surprised him that it was decidedly sweet. It didn’t surprise him that it had the clean, pure under-taste of a vegetarian, of one who had never tasted the flesh of another living being; that was why he had chosen him as a victim in the first place. But there was more, a taint to his blood that made it unlike anything else…

His eyes opened before he had regained his sense enough to realize that he had closed them to better taste it. “Delicious,” he said, fixing the slightly-smiling D with a decidedly predatory stare. The glass was now empty; he must have swallowed the rest of it without noticing. He couldn’t get enough…

“I take it you enjoyed it?”

“I want more.” He leaned forward, golden eyes boring unblinkingly into D’s. He wasn’t sure if he would really attack him… surely he would never really attack D… but he had to have more…

D didn’t seem concerned. “There’s a limit to how much I can give you at any one time,” he said, watching calmly as he moved swiftly around the table and sat beside him, though Toutetsu was hardly aware of him. His words registered, but seemed unimportant. More blood… He could smell it still, coming from D. Without looking at him he took his hand, heedlessly pushing the silk sleeve back and exposing a cut on his wrist. It wasn’t bleeding, but there was dried blood around it…

D let him have his hand and didn’t seem at all surprised when he pulled the cut to his mouth. It wasn’t quite as addicting as the fresh blood, but it was still good… so good…

He growled when the hand was pulled away, a low, dangerous sound, but D seemed utterly unafraid.

“I need more…” he growled, staring hungrily at him.

D smiled slightly. “We might be able to come to an agreement…”

“What?” he demanded immediately. He would do anything for that blood…

“Can you still cook?”

“As in, more desserts?” D smiled brightly. Was that all? Seriously?

Only D would trade his lifeblood for cakes and sweets…

“We have a deal,” he said.
