Once, the Count was their entire world.
He was their Master, their Protector, the One who would Never Forget Them. The Count - instantly recognisable by his mismatched eyes, enigmatic smile, and graceful hands with dangerous talons. The aura of mystery surrounding him could both captivate and destroy. He cared for no one and nothing except them.
Until the human arrived, followed by his pup.
Now, the Count’s eyes instantly followed him whenever he arrived, stalking his prey with a patience he had inherited from them. They were less and less important.
How could something broken, but not visible, be fixed?
