Papa D loved chocolates and how he could roll them in his mouth until they dissolved on his tongue, leaving only a sour aftertaste and the memory of something sweet.
He loved berry-filled pies and rich cakes, for they were good at patching the holes left by little affection and deep betrayal.
He loved sticky things like candy apples, because the necessary crunching drowned out the desperate cries of his heart.
...But what Papa loved best was the taste of his son’s tears, and the forgiveness in his eyes. They were treats too long denied and too late in coming.

This is a very...hm...interpretive piece. If it was confusing, I'm sorry. There was a word or two that would've made the whole thing clearer, but I would've gone over the limit. ;_; Feel free to ask me what the hell it's about if you're totally lost.
