Time for another one of these:
Airing Live:
The Vampire Diaries
I finally watched the season finale from last year and the first episode from this year. (Yes, I'm behind. It keeps happening) I had a massively good cry over it. I'm not sure how they got that out of me, since I'd been feeling a little detached from the current relationship development between Elena, Stefan, and Damon, but they did it. I think it was -- SPOILER! -- Lexi and Ric showing up. Like, that's a guaranteed make-me-cry every time. It's kinda weird that Ric is back and it's all casual and stuff? I love it, but it's completely unexpected and Elena didn't... seem to make a big deal out of it, which is weird. But granted, she's busy hallucinating Damon, so... And Bonnie and Damon - that's just... Well, I actually found it intriguing, and I know the Bamon shippers must have gone nuts with that. Except, it was a really weird place to leave off my watching because what the hell is happening with the other side?? This show has really... gotten a little weird. Two years ago this isn't where I was expecting it to be. As a Damon/Elena/Stefan shipper I've had a really hard time with the last couple of years and the way their relationships keep falling apart over and over again, so I'm not objective about it at all. I've had to try and maintain an emotional distance from it in order to get through it. Even with my bias, I think it's wandered way off any logical path. The problem is that each year you somehow have to top the last, which leads to insane plots. And you can't officially put Elena with either boy until the end, right, because then the shippers stop watching. Except, they keep favoring Damon over Stefan and I hate that - although again the Steroline shippers must be having a ball. I don't really know how to fix all that, though, and I still love the characters. So I just keep watching it.
The Originals
I'm impressed with what they did with season 1 - in fact, they even made me cry at the end of the last episode, which I wasn't expecting. --SPOILER!-- I really want to see Rebekah as the mother she always wanted to be, and am very interested to see how they continue her story. I've even had a couple of vid ideas pop up. The family intrigue has been very good so far in Season 2, though I'm not fully caught up with it either.
Sleepy Hollow
I'm still charmed by this show, and am enjoying the new season. It's still cracky, but a lot of fun.
White Collar
Still a fun, light show to watch. I'm not really actively fannish about it anymore, but the OT3 still warms my heart.
Elementary
I still really love it, even though it's doing things I did not expect. I'm not sure what to make of Joan -- SPOILER! -- keeping her distance from Sherlock. I understand why she's upset (though I don't understand at all why they sent Sherlock back to London so suddenly?), but it was super uncomfortable to watch. I'm glad they seem to be bringing them back together, slowly but surely. I continue to love Joan being super competent and an excellent female character, and actually like what they are doing with Kitty so far.
Big Bang Theory
Still slowly dying over the treatment of geeks, but mostly I can ignore it enough to enjoy the characters. Secretly I'm still maintaining my original ships: Raj/Howard and Penny/Leonard/Sheldon. I really like Amy (but continue to hate that she's often the butt of jokes and will likely never get what she needs from Sheldon) and usually enjoy Bernadette, but I'll never get over my initial love for the show, so I guess the relationships are sort of stuck in amber for me.
NCIS
Still a solid enjoyment. I'm enjoying Ellie well enough, though I really do -- SPOILER! -- miss Ziva. I was just having a conversation with hubby where we discussed all the ladies of NCIS. Even though they keep dying or leaving for one reason or another, I generally like the way this show handles it's ladies.
Rizzoli & Isles
The ladies still rock in this one, for sure. Still solid, though I occasionally don't get to it fast enough and they get erased.
Extant
I really enjoyed this one! Well, I still have like 3 episodes left to watch when I get time, but still. It was really different, and I loved watching Halle play Molly. My husband didn't like it because he said it was really creepy - which it was. But it's sci-fi and delt with aliens and artificial intelligent, and also family relationships - all things I really enjoy. It's an interesting package and I'd like to see if it gets picked up for more.
On Netflix
The Good Wife
Still excellent, though I have yet to start Season 3.
Game of Thrones
I don't think I'd mentioned this last year, but we watch it off of Netflix - which means I'm always a year behind everyone else :( It's a lot of fun watching a fantasy world brought to life so beautifully. I enjoy that a lot. I love Arya, Tyrion, and Daenerys the most, but generally love most everyone. I actually liked the relationship that developed between Jamie and Brienne in S 3. I really want to see Arya kick more ass, though. I don't think they do enough with her. Also, -- SPOILER! -- holy hell, they killed Robb! I seriously was not expecting that. Which I kind of like about the show, you really don't know what they're going to do, but damn! Also, I really like the title sequence - it's really cool and unique.
Orphan Black
I've seen the first 4 episodes and I really liked it!! I'm so intrigued by the story and where they will go with it. Only, I'm watching them with my brother and we haven't gotten together for a bit so I don't know what happens next!!
On Hiatus
BBC Sherlock
I watched last season of BBC Sherlock while really wrapped up in TVD writing so I didn't have the fannish energy to spare for it, like I did for previous years. It was all fan-service! I wasn't as over the moon about that as I'd have thought, but I did enjoy it. I really like what they did with Mary, in the end, and am very excited to see how she changes the Sherlock & John relationship. Plus, built-in OT3!
Suits
The first part of this season was... weird. Like, was their entire goal to just tear everyone apart? I know you have to make some sort of drama to keep things fresh, but... I haven't had the energy to really keep track of everything that went on so I feel like I can't really analyze it properly, but the show is definitely different than in S1. I'll keep watching, but I really kind of just want to get back to Mike and Harvey kicking ass, while Rachel and Donna also kick ass, and Louis and Jessica don't do stuff that doesn't make sense. I don't even know what to think of Jessica this year, holy hell. Basically, my baseline for this show is for everyone to kick ass and not fall apart as a team. Is that too much to ask for?
Justified
I'm interested to see what they do with this next year, the final season of Justified. It remains a really interesting show that my husband and I watch together.
Canceled
Almost Human
KARRRRLLLLL! I miss your pretty face! Seriously, though, I do miss it. Particularly Dorian - he was endlessly fascinating to me and I'm so sad we don't get to see where he could go.
Psych
The series finale was fun and actually worked up some emotion in me leading up to it. In all honesty, I've kinda been over this show for a while. I'll forever have a Shawn/Lassiter spot in my heart, but the silliness of it all did eventually wear on me. It's one where I'd be ok reading really good fanfic every so often, but I'm not really going to miss the show.
Last Resort
I can't remember if I ever mentioned this show before, but I enjoyed it until it was cancelled. My husband really liked it, it was one of 'his' shows. I thought it should have done better with ratings and stuff than it did.
Not Watching This Year
American Idol
Last year was phenomenally good in terms of talent. I wonder how they are doing this year, although it's unlikely they'll repeat the same level of talent. It's such a massive time investment that I can only do it every two or three years, but they did a good job last year trimming everything down so it didn't take quite so much time. And I ADORED the interactions between Harry and Keith so much. I went looking for slash on AO3 and was so sad there was none (at the time. maybe I should look again?) If anyone knows of any let me know.
