I tried this thingy called IMVU 3D chat. You create and dress your own avatar, buying clothes and such with special credits that can be obtained in a variety of ways (including, if you're particularly silly, exchanging real currency for them). You then use your avatar to chat (and possibly chit - if you're into that) within a 3D world. Here's me, with a sword, glasses, and brown eyes (IMVU does swift business in body parts) bought with my newbie starting credits, plus a bunch of stuff I got for free.
You can also choose your own personal room. Here's me within my castle chambers.
My very...pink castle chambers.
There's a small list of rooms to choose from when first signing up. Each room appeared to come with some specific bonus clothes, too, and the ones that came with this room looked appropriately medieval-y, and I wanted them, so I chose it. Having not realized yet that one actually has to pay for things, I was also assuming I could freely choose another room from a larger list once I was in the program.
Not so. I haven't been able to find my medieval-y clothes, either. Looked in the drawers and everything.
Apparently behind them as well.
However, as I sat at my curiously high table and proceeded to ponder my predicament, along with the vaguely phallic wall-paneling (and whether that observation isn't psychologically telling in some way), I realized something.
First, that this all makes for a nice shallowly amusing story.
Moved to the bed to express my amusement - laughing can be dangerous business.
Second, that I still perfectly liked the room. I AIN'T SCARED OF NO PINK. Plus, the bed is undeniably comfy.
And it's got a FUCKING THRONE.
From which I shall rule all the land that can be seen between my pink curtains.
Royal curtains mistakenly left out of frame. Royal photographer summarily executed.
Bow before your emperor, plebians!
