I'm so sorry I've been absent for the past weeks, but teachers from my high school request my presence in some events and most of them are really sweet people, so I couldn't refuse to do it. Not that I feel uncomfortable doing it, it's all about recitating poetry and stuff like that :)
At the same time, I'm studying my lines for the next play the drama club from my high school is preparing; it's called: 'Charlot in the land of freedom'. It tells the story of Charles Clapin when he emigrated from England and moved to the States. He was convinced his movies were going to be big there and it was like that, but he was pretty upset when most conservative people tried to censor the thoughts and beliefs he expressed in his works. I'm not going to tell the whole thing because the end it's up to the viewer's interpretation, I think. In my honest opinion, I think it's a metaphor referring to Chaplin's death and a way to teach the audience freedom doesn't own a home. Its true home is our hearts and he have to fight if we want that inner true to materialize into reality :)
You would be wondering what is my role, right? I'm one of the Chaplin's wives, her name is Lita Grey, she was a Mexican actress and she played the main role in Chaplin's film 'The Kid'. In the play, she's pretty stupid and diva-like, but in the end she falls for Chaplin for real. Her mother manipulated her so she could get benefits from his daughter's fame and the interviews Lita gave to newspapers.
I'm not sure if all it's true, but Lita Grey did exist. She got separated from him, I think. It has been said she was a tease and liked to catch everyone's attetion, and that got Chaplin's attention. She was really young when they met, but seems it didn't matter.
I'm happy with my role 'cause I have to be flirty and speak with a Mexican accent and it's fun LOL Chaplin in the play is a really good friend of mine, so I don't think I will have problems with him when we have to kiss :D He's cute, it won't be unpleasant, but I won't feel a shiver going down my spine neither.
