So, my business venture with my friend is over by mutual consent. I won't go into the details, venting won't accomplish anything anyway.
I was going to quit the Jukado Competition team because of the finances a couple weeks ago. Before I spoke to Doshu, I heard him talking at the end of the previous class, and gave me some things to think about.
When I did talk to him, he said that he'd forgive me the required tourney's for the time being. He knows my situation right now. He also knows that I love competing, and that I want to keep pushing my training further and further ahead.
After my test, he told me the number one thing I needed to work on was the pushups/situps and other physical requirements, that my techniques were good. I went right out and got a set of "PerfectPushups" and started working on them daily (I recommend the product highly) and my form has improved greatly as a result.
That he remembered how on my previous years competing, I always exceeded my required number of tourney's, and that I'd gone to bat for the dojo when a former student was harassing the school (and his family).
So that felt really good.
I've been working very hard to find a new job. I had a great interview the other day, with a company I really hope I can get in with.
On my way out, someone saw my new license plate (ESCRIMA), and flagged me down by having his daughter hold an escrima stick out the window. "Wanna chat?" So we pulled over and chatted in Deering Oaks for about half an hour. Turned out to be an Escrima/MA Master named Professor Ricardo. Very nice guy. His group will be putting on a dragon dance a taiko drumming demo next month, and I'll be posting the details when I get them for anyone that's interested.
So that's it in a nutshell. Charity is in Boston this weekend for an Anime Convention with some friends. I'm at home trying to behave myself (BORING).
