You're not a unique snowflake.
You're not the only person to believe this.
You've been talking to the wrong people.

except for the fact that he wasn't actually touching or paying any attention to the stingray ....

It's more that he's spent enough time unsafely around them, provoked enough of them and screwed with enough of them.

It was about time that one attacked him without provocation.

Yeah... while I don't believe he should've died I still believe he should've gotten the shock of his life through one of the animals screwing with him.

Shock. Maybe a few bruises or at most a broken bone.

Funny (weird funny) I'm going to say this, I haven't heard anyone else mention it yet.

It's both sad and ironic that people believed he had a big heart for animals, it was his weak spot. This was a little too correct.

He always gave them the respect they deserved though, it wasn't like he was hunting stingray, and however predictable or probable his death was, given his career choice, it was still a tragedy.

Do a good deed in memory of Steve.

he took on nothing, fucked with nothing, he was scuba diving in scuba gear... it lashed its tail up at him and spiked him.

by your argument you might say we fuck with nature by walking down the street.

unfortunately the critical point when it comes to Darwin awards is that they involve removing a person from the gene pool. a bit obsolete when you consider his two children.

it's certainly ironic and i'm sure many people were expecting it but it doesn't mean he deserved it or that it's amusing.

Ok... what's a Darwin award?? Have I been out of the country too long? And did you know that the author Colin Thiele (South Aussie) died the same week as well? Go figure a doco guy and a racer get a big spread on the news but not an author...
