Well, my short stay in Gatineau is over and overall, it was a lot of fun. Because I seldom saw Coucoune, but also because the conferences were interesting, and Gatineau-Ottawa is a wonderful place to be at this time of the year.

Ottawa, the National Capital, is a great place. First of all, it is a very pretty city. All year round, but mostly at this time of the year, where the tulips that made the city famous are blooming, adding vibrant colors everywhere. And so when the sun and warmth finally arrived friday, it was almost a shame to be indoors, however interesting the lecturers were. But despite that, I've managed to eat in a lovely pub called "The Heart and Crown" near Byward Market where, in honor of Shrek the Third coming out, I bought gingerbred men (and women). Thursday evening I went out, alone, to the Museum of the Civilization in Gatineau (that's the second great thing about the area: it's filled with museums), which was about 15 minutes from my hotel, to admire the splendors of China's craftmanship. I am still fascinated after all these years by the unique mix of stylishness and beauty with cruelty and violence of this amazing culture. And by the fact that, at the time we were only beating each other with sticks, they were already far, far ahead of us technologically.
And after that, I treated myself with Dinosaurs. In 3D. On a IMAX screen. It was great, but I'd wish they'd stopped trying to educate me about archeology. I just wanted to see them tearing at each other dammit! Ah well. I finished my evening by ordering food at my room, which I ate in pajamas while watching Robot Chicken on TV. The pure bliss of having a room all to myself.....in a hotel with a pool and spa....
