The Olympiads are over, and surprisingly went well. Of course, some small things happened, it was not very efficiently organized, as usual, but nothing catastrophic befell us. Considering my total lack of luck, it's a miracle really. Overall, it was a good day, I had fun. The only thing that bother me slightly is that there wasn't enough food for everyone, because our backer was too skinflint, and the food was not very good  (well, for me, I'm not too fond of Libanese fastfood, there was pizza but as there was so few I left mine for the contestants).

I took a long, hot shower, which is a luxury I seldom have, and now, wrapped thighly in my warm dressing gown, a rum 'n coke in my hand, I feel like a queen.

One of my fellow workers did very few during the day, as usual, but for once I don't mind. Because while I was helping my boss serving food, she told me she was very pleased with my work. She said I was a reliable, trustworthy person, resourful and smart, and that it was the kind of person she wanted to have under her. It felt so good at first I did not know what to say (I finally managed a thanks). themadpuppy and princedarkness  (my fiancee) know how hard I work to do my job well. I whine and rant a lot, but I do it and I try to do my best. And I something had the impression all my hard work goes unnoticed. I don't do it for that, but, sometimes when I see my coworkers not doing their job and getting away with it, I wonder why I put so much efforts in it. Well, now I know it doesn't go unnoticed, and it feels good.

So with my other boss covering me with compliments last thursday, and admitting that he found the other two a little bit lazy and too carefree about their job, I am happy. It's not that I don't like my coworkers, they are nice fellows, really. But the African way of working doesn't mix well with the American work, and I sometimes find their carefreeness, their lack of punctuality and planning very bothersome. And to have another African complain about it felt somewhat relieving....I am not a racist, it is truly their wayIt work well amongst them, 'cause it's their way and they are used to it, but here in Quebec it's no good.

And my fic is now it the Pit, for better of for worse. Like one famous general once said: "Alea jacta est"....it was for a far more important matter, but it is fitting here nonetheless.

Yes, last week was hell, but it finished well enough. Tomorrow a new one begins, and I'm ready for it.

"Er....

- No, no, don't tell me: there's a giant waterfall straight ahead.

- Yep.

- With sharp jagged rocks at the bottom?

-Yep.

-Bring it on."
