yuletide letter 2016
Greetings, dear author!
Basically, no matter what you decide to write, you've got free rein when it comes to rating and genre -- it can be fluff, angst, gen, smut, romance, hurt/comfort, action/adventure, worldbuilding, character study, or an AU! I love seeing alternate-universe versions of my favorite characters, so any kind of AU fill would be totally fine for any and all of the requests below. I'm kind of ambivalent about kid!fic, but I've got a huuuuge soft spot for domesticity because inside I am gooey like a marshmallow.
My only inflexible limits: I can't handle incest and would rather avoid character death or non-con not already existing in canon. Generally, I'm fine with darker/heavier topics as long as these issues aren't treated lightly or swept away without explanation.
Now for the requests themselves~
Now You See Me - Merritt, Danny, Jack & Lula May. Okay, so my heart beats for Danny/Merritt hate sex. Casual hate sex turning into old-marrieds hate sex without either of them saying aloud that they might, you know, have an actual feelings. HOWEVER! If that's not the thing for you, it's totally fine. As far as ships go, I also adored Lula/Jack in the second movie, particularly the dynamic of her having the upper hand, just, generally, in life, or perhaps while sitting on his face. Those are the only pairs I'm really invested in, though if you're interested in horsemen polyamory (with or without Dylan) that would be a-ok with me! As for plot, just a few things I'd love would be a post-second-movie puppy pile, ANYTHING with teamfic / found families / domesticity, maybe some h/c involving Jack because I'm always in for fic that hurts the pretty one. If you're into magic yourself, and are interested in exploring their craft, training for shows, whatever, that'd be neat as well. Hopefully I've babbled enough about these losers -- sorry this one was late!
Sense8 - Capheus & Riley. These two are my sun, moon and stars, and it's still hard to accept they're not in love in canon. I'm so weak to the dynamic of the woman stricken far too often by tragedy, by the darkness in life, and the man who chooses daily to find the light of it. The way Capheus coaxes her to smile, listens to her stories and, without diminishing their pain, helps her to remember that there is beauty in this world. I would love something set during or after season 1, primarily featuring these two. The rest of the cluster is totally optional but I love them all (plus amanita, hernando, daniela, etc) so if there's someone, or multiple someones, you'd really like to include, go right ahead.
Jane Eyre - Bertha Mason, Jane Eyre & Edward Rochester. For this one, I would love to have an AU. Maybe Jane is hired by Bertha, whose husband is kept secret or otherwise out of the picture, and the two of them are the ones to fall in love. Maybe Bertha and Edward are openly married, but both take interest in Adele's hired governess and Jane becomes their third. No matter what you decide, I would like to avoid any interpretation suggesting that what was done to Bertha in canon was acceptable, or that sweeps her conveniently aside, as the book did, for Jane and Rochester to marry. But if you'd like to also change the setting and/or tone from what's given in the novel, feel free! Have fun and make it your own.
In the end, these are only guidelines. If you find yourself really wanting to write something else, please feel free to go for it! Whatever you're happiest writing is what should happen, in the end. <3
