Ok, I usually avoid seriously hyped things. And for VoIP, I have found basic apps to be more than adequate (with a little tech-savvy), but on the recommendation of a friend (thanks
silly_filly) I looked into
SKYPE.
I know a lot of y'all may already be using this, and I admit I am not fond of the networking it uses while active (easily solved by keeping it shut down when not in use), but I am forced to admit that it works well, especially across platforms. My sister and I actually had a good conversation today (with decent quality video) between her Mac and my PC.
So, yeah, it's worth the price (free) and I would recommend, especially if you're stuck across the globe like me.
