First!

First Day Back As Full-Time Student - Complete.

It was certainly an interesting day, for soooo many reasons, lets see how many I talk about before I run out steam...

My first class was World History to 1500 - a class I took at HSU but dropped because I hated the way the prof taught it. Anyway, the Prof's name is Mayer, which, given my musical tastes, I thought was a good sign - and I was right! He's pretty much me if I ever teach history. He recommended we watch Rome and play Civilization...so...I guess I've been preparing for this class for at least a few years without knowing it, hahaha.

On a (slightly) humorous note, I fell asleep while watching a video during the last hour of class and didn't wake up until the room was almost empty. So...probably not the best first impression.

When I left the class it smelled HEAVILY of rain, and sure enough not five minutes later we were in the midst of an extremely heavy impromptu thunderstorm, with the lightning striking relatively close to the campus. What I may or may not have mentioned before is that part of the reason I decided to return to school when I did was because during the weekend I gave myself to make a decision about whether or not to go back, it rained for the first time in like half a year up in Victorville. These days I always associate rain with Humboldt, since it rained more often that it didn't up there, and so the fact that on the day I was deciding about school it rained like it used to when I was AT SCHOOL pushed me over the edge and clinched my decision to leave work. That it would rain again for the first time SINCE then on my FIRST DAY of school I take to mean as the cosmos saying, "You made the right decision."

While I was waiting under a building's awning for the rain to lessen a bit, I heard someone mutter something in my direction. I looked up and said, "What?" and the guy standing there replied, "I said, 'Don't you work at the bank?'" ...seriously? On my first day of school I get recognized as the bank guy not even in the same city where I worked. Ugh. He proceeded to try to make me feel bad for quitting the job, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out WHY he'd do that. He was a prick.

Awww, I'm running out of steam already. More later! God, it was nice to get out of the house for a full day again, it's kinda nice not being able to check all your computer stuff until the end of the day, so you can see what's piled up. And it's definitely nice to be a student again. So...more stories soon!

P.S. Thank you, Amy, for the Carlton dance, and AM, while my classes ARE interesting so far and it WOULD be nice to live with Mike, I'm not sure I'd be down for the full takeover of all your duties...although Mike would probably adapt sooner than I would. ;)
