Thrifty Goodness!!

I can cough on people. Not that I would, mind you. But I can. :::struggling to breathe through stuffy nostril:::

I cannot believe it is 7:13 a.m. and I'm sitting here typing. I should be in bed waiting for the alarm to go off so I can hit the snooze button at least 3 times before getting up to shower and get dressed for this meeting. Alas, alack; here I sit instead.

Still haven't found my health ins. card, which is a major bummer because I desperately need new spectacles, complete with updated prescription. Am thinking perhaps I'll call the company this morning and find out if I make an appt., can they just fax the eye dr. my information and I'll request a new card. Which I will then punch a hole through and wear around my neck, until we part company.

But! This does not touch on my thrifting excitement from yesterday! =) Mate and I went thrifting yesterday afternoon, and I'm quite pleased with my finds in the children's section, although they never seem to have anything I like in my size. Inevitably, everything I like is size 4 or smaller; a size I've not seen since my early teen years. Nyuck nyuck nyuck.

Anytrout, I found the most ADORABLE Talbot's Kids dress--it's a size 8, but it's totally D. It's black velvet with purpley-pinky irridescent sequins on it. Ok, at first glance it sounds gaudy and hideous, but the sequins are spaced out enough that it adds sparkle and shimmer to the dress without being tacky or garrish. I don't know where she'll wear it, but we'll simply have to have an occasion for it--this dress was too adorable to pass up, even though it was $10--granted, that's not much, but when thrifting, it seems extravagant. But worth it!

Let's see... What else did we get... A really adorable white Old Navy blouse for D. (very bohemian), a nice little dress for L. in the fall/winter (it's made of a heavy almost sweatpants-like fabric, but it's really cute), and a bizarre mulberry-colored plaid outfit. It's a dress, with a white "blouse" attached on the inside (not really a blouse but attached nonetheless) with weird buttons--I don't like the buttons but mate's mom says we can take it to the seamstress and she'll put some less ugly buttons on it. Mate found a workshirt in a color he doesn't have but a style he loves, so that was a find. Oh! And I must confess: I bought the ultimate Mommy dress. It's from the Disney Catalogue, and it's a denim jumper with Pooh, Eyeore, and Piglet on it, with a couple of fall leaves embroidered on the front and acorns embroidered on the back. I know, I know. I'm only a few steps away from being a khakis-and-loafers-wearing soccer mom. :p Resistance is futile; apparently, I *will* be assimilated.

Ok. I have released my joy at thrifting and may now get on to the tasks of washing my new thrifty finds and whatnot. Oh yeah--and getting in the shower before mate wakes up and takes all the hot water.
