Today ends the first week of Semester 5. Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which we had off. I also took it upon myself to do something that is somewhat drastic for me. I deleted all the games off my computer. This was pretty hard to do considering that the World of Warcraft's expansion: the Burning Crusade open the next day and I had pre-paid for a collector's edition.
Why would I do such a thing?
Last semester I played more often than I should have- cutting into school time, sleep time, and spending energy in other places. On Monday the 15th I really was ashamed of myself for not possessing the self-control necessary to appropriately manage my time. Will this decision help me focus on school and keeping a schedule? That is the plan. I also went as far as saving all of my online distractions (mainly online comics) into a folder and putting it else-where. Now the Internet is e-mail, research, and this journal.
Now that it is Friday I have all the course syllibi and thus all the necessary dates to input into my schedule. I could be lazy and sit around for the rest of the day- isn't that what the weekend is for? Yet that would be the old habit talking to me.
I've got my goals for this semester and I'm going to keep them:
- No world of warcraft until the semester is complete
- No video games, surfing the Internet, or sitting around doing nothing except on Saturdays
- At 11 o'clock I need to go to sleep and at 6 o'clock I will get my arse out of bed
- There is School and Project X, which is secondary to school
Let's see how I do.
