wonderful weekend
so a month or so ago, i got the great idea that one weekend me and emily should go home and she could meet my parents, and much to my surprise she was quite amenable to the idea. and it was gonna work out good, cuz there wasn't going to be a game cuz it was on thursday instead. as time was getting nearer we were really looking forward to it (so was my mom).
well, a couple weeks before this weekend, emily found out her dad might have cancer and surgery was scheduled for the wednesday before the weekend. so, then we didnt know how things were gonna go, if we'd be able to go back home, etc etc. but, his surgery went fine, and we decided not to go for the whole weekend, so we went back saturday morning and came back sunday afternoon.
we had so much fun. first, of course was the road trip, which was pretty fun. and we got there and mom and wes were both still there; wes getting ready to go to an auction (as usual) and mom cooking supper (lasagna, mm). emily was really nervous for the last hour or so of the trip, i kept trying to reassure her, but there wasn't really anything i could say to make her feel comfortable, but once we got there things went really well. mom gave her this cute little gift, was kind of a grab bag sort of thing, had various little hygiene things; emily loved it.
so we rented a couple movies for saturday night and watched those, that was fun. also showed emily around town a little bit. had some cake, a little more cake, some popcorn, an ice cream bar at some point. yea, lots of stuff none of us needed i'm sure. got some sleep, and sunday mornin we got up and my sister, neice and brother in law came over, so emily got to meet them. megan even played with her! which was a bit of a surprise because megan is so shy, but maybe being in preschool is helping her to get used to being around other people. so they stayed for a couple hours, that was cool, cuz i hadn't got to see megan in a while.
for lunch we went to gana and carl's (wesley's mom and dad) for dinner, like every sunday. of course there was way more food than necessary, but it's all good, we ate our fill, and introduced emily to everyone else (being wesley's brother randy, and his wife tracey). then we came back cuz emily wanted to see her dad.
so all in all, it was a wonderful weekend. emily really liked meeting everyone, and everyone liked her, so it was great. sometime in the near future she's gonna take me to meet her parents:)
also!... sunday night we were sitting around, and i dont know how we got on the subject but she was talkin about how she was going to get an apartment next summer and get a job, and all that. and depending on roommate situation i could come every couple weeks for 2 or 3 days and stay with her. and i said, well i could do one better, you know, i could get a job here in fayetteville, too. course, she didnt quite get it right away, cuz she said "ooh, yea, and then we'd both be in fayetteville, and be alot closer". i said, "well, you're almost to what i was thinkin, hon." she thought for a couple seconds and her face lit up "you mean we could live together?!". yep. so, we talked about that for a little bit, i think that'll be fun. get a little apartment for the summer, and it should be WAY easier for me to get a job for the summer here in fayetteville than back home. it's almost impossible to get a job around pocahontas sometimes, especially if you're just looking for a summer job.
so all in all.. great weekend. emily got to meet my parents, and we talked about living together for the summer, which i think will be a great oppurtunity. see if we can stand each other in close quarters for an extended amount of time :D
