I was passed out drunk that morning. The phone rang, and it was my date from the night before: "you left your purse..."

"I don't care right now."

He calls back 10 minutes later, "Turn on your TV!!!!" It was right after the first tower had hit.

Then I remembered that I was supposed to pick my friend up at the airport in an hour (from Seattle) - but at this point all flights were grounded. I called the airline to find out where he would be and kept calling his cell phone until he answered, "Are you on the ground now?"

"Yeah, how did you know?"

I told him what had happened, and about the same time some of the other passengers on his flight were getting the same word. He ended up renting a car and driving the rest of the way to Houston.

While I don't mind the new security measures in place (taxing as they may be), I don't live my life any differently. I don't consider myself a political person and I certainly don't identify with either party - but I am in favor of the war.

Being in power means making the right decision even if it isn't popular (any good parent should know this rule) - and I'm glad that our president doesn't give a shit about his popularity. It would be a hard decision to make, but I think we have to send a message that we won't just allow this to happen.
