Adam is going to die.

There is no saving him from his cancer.

I can still remember him, 17 or 18 years old trying to get us college guys to buy him some beers. Bringing home some amazing stories from Ecuador. Helping us take over the theater for the late showing of Spiceworld for the most entertaining movie experience I've ever had.

Seeing pictures of him now is heartbreaking. Been on my mind a bunch over the last two weeks.

I hope it goes painlessly and serenely. Hospice is involved and that is comforting, but it still doesn't make it hurt any less.

I hope Ryan is okay. And Mama and Papa R and Eric. I know we've lost touch over the years but there's still that kinship that comes from seeing someone every day for nearly two years, being invited into their home and treated like an extended family member. If I could go back to the happiest times in my life, a good portion of them would be spent around that family.

He's can't be more than 30. What a difference a year or two can make.
