Publicly funded religious schools: anachronism or basic fairness?

So the provincial Tories are proposing that the government start funding religious schools in the province on the same basis that they currently support the Catholic boards. The Tories say it's a matter of basic fairness. The United Nations has weighed in in the past and also says it's discriminatory to fund one religious group but not the others ( Read more... )

I'd couch my vote with the Green Party ... the rest, I'd say it won't become a hot button issue except for those with a special interest and consequently it'll end up being status quo or expanded.

I'm with Green... which is good since I vote Green. I mean, personally, I'd love to see multi-faith boards getting support but as it is they can't seem to fund public schools well enough.

I never thought I'd agree with anything that the Green Party had to say, but for once they're on to something. I don't think religion should have a place in schools, but if certain groups request it, they should clearly have to fund it themselves.

Whatever happens, a decent percentage of schools should still issue those little kilts to the girls. That couldn't have sounded creepier. :)
