I am SO pissed off it's rather ridiculous. Honestly, I think I may start throwing things.
So. After work we (basically all those who had been working, one who wasn't working, and a friend of one) went to go see Cars. It was a good time. I was enjoying the movie, laughing heartily, and all that good stuff. All seemed hunkey-dorey. At least it did until I got up to go to the bathroom. I did my business (after finding a toilet that had recently been puked in...) and returned to the theater.
I made it to our row, and tried to go in. Noah must have moved the same way I did and I ended up stepping on him, and then tripping. I more or less fell on Brittany, but managed to save myself. After the mishap everyone was checking around to make sure all was well and I settled myself. However, we stirred the beast sitting in front of us.
This woman turns around and says, "Listen, I have been putting up with this crap through the whole movie, I can't believe how rude you are being."
I was slightly taken aback. I mean, I tripped... and before that we hadn't been that loud, apart from normal movie going noises. I laugh rather loudly, but it was a funny movie... It's not my fault they didn't laugh once.
If it had ended there I might not be so upset. But I tried to explain that I tripped, try and apologize, be decent about it and all, however, her boyfriend had other ideas. While he hadn't even been involved up until that point, he decided he needed to turn around, look straight at me and say (in a rather threatening tone, which was laughable since I was easily bigger than him) "Shut the fuck up."
She made some more comments about how rude we were, swearing every other word, and then turned back around. Her wimpy boy-toy leaned in and kissed her cheek as if to say "Good job honey, way to tell her."
I sat there. Completely dumbfounded. I mean, what could I say to that. I was taken completely by surprise. After a moment I had regained use of my tongue and was so livid. For the rest of the movie I was so upset I couldn't even enjoy the rest of the movie. I wanted to say something, anything, not to be rude, just to let them know... it doesn't matter how rude they thought we were being, they had no right to talk like that. Ask nicely, explain what's wrong, I'd be more than happy to try and fix it, but seriously? Nothing we did could have been that rude.
ARGH. I am still extremely pissed off.
