This weekend it became fall. Which I am happy about because I can finally wear my new sweaters and knee socks. Maia helped me buy new shoes yesterday that are just ugly enough to be cute. I managed not to give into clog mania, although I could not be more obsessed with ponchos.
CMJ was awesome, but I still haven't caught up on work or on sleep. But instead of doing either one of those things yesterday, Maia and I saw a million of our literary and musical heroes at the Hurricane Katrina benefit that the New Yorker put on. Lou Reed was accompanied by Laurie Anderson, accordions abounded, David Byrne brought along his marching band, and Woody Allen played some jazz clarinet. If I had been asked what I thought Woody Allen was going to do at this thing, play the jazz clarinet would not have been in the top 100 of my answers. Needless to say, the only thing bad about it was Town Hall's location in the middle of Times Square, the most stressful and annoying place on earth.
I have millions of pages of Spanish to read. I can't believe I'm so behind already. But I really like all my classes, and I got 100% on my first physics quiz! Granted, it was one-dimensional motion and all I had to do was multiply with a calculator, but it was reassuring. My calculus definitely needs some brushing up.
I'm not sure whether I want to go abroad for a semester or a year next year. It's weird that I have to start planning already, and this year only began three weeks ago. What a long three weeks it has been.
