My Life Is a Long Weekend

So, Jon Brion last Friday. + Rickie Lee Jones + Fiona Apple + mandolin solos = best second set ever. And he remembered who I was from when I interviewed him. That was nice.

On Saturday, Elitist Clique reunited for an 80s dance party on "Gallery Row" -- the new euphemism for skid row. We were the youngest people there, as well as the best dressed and the best dancers (obviously), so we attracted lots of weird attention and are on a creepy number of camera phones around Los Angeles. Not to mention the abundance of vagina themed art...a favorite theme of the 20th century. It was definitely alternate universe material and way fun. Also, China and I had amazing luck at Sunthrift earlier and my sister got a hot dress for her pops concert.

On Sunday, I went to a gravity themed party where Margaret's physics joke was a huge success. The guy who makes human powered airplanes was there with amazing toys in tow. Life does not get much better.

Everyone is slowly trickling back from various locations just as I am getting ready to leave. This week is going to be full of trying to cram in all the things I want to do with all the people I want to see before heading off to seduce string theorists for 10 weeks. I can't beat Margaret's Civil War re-enactments, but I try.
