I don't want this semester to end. We have had the best last month, and a really amazing semester preceding that. I don't even mind how much work I had -- in fact, I don't even remember writing that history paper starting at 6:30 am the day it was due as being hard, or stressful, or even important. Totally overshadowed by days like all of the ones in the past week. Here is a play by play:
Monday: Last day of classes and Books concert. The Books are awesome live, somewhat surprisingly, and I think I discovered someone's double life there.
Tuesday: String Theory Lecture in the afternoon...need I say more about that? I will anyway. Physics for Poets was one of the best classes ever, even judged only on life changing ability. I am trying to create a history of science minor, and Margaret has completely changed her life to major in astrophysics. We are hanging out with Hal tomorrow afternoon (and by hanging out, I mean going over a lecture we missed). I cannot wait for Fermilab.
Tuesday night: Spec Dinner. Food and alcohol are both better when free. Margaret and I looked amazing, we had awesome friends there, and Margaret got some great pictures of Eli, her, and me on our drunken subway ride home. Amazing.
Wednesday: 6 hours of radio marathon goodness. Mostly Margaret, Maia, Eli Thunder, and me, and featuring Eli $, Sam West, and other special guests. We had an awesome radio duel where teams had to play the exact opposite of the song the other team picked. Downloadable at wbar.org. Six hours of gold.
Thursday: Finished my last paper and got canceled on for dinner. Not terrible, but not nearly as exciting as the rest of this stuff.
Friday: Hungarian Pastry Shop with Lara, and later, dinner at my English professor's house. Amazing Indian food, even more amazing Upper East Side apartment.
Saturday: Did another amazing radio show, featuring one hour of Smart Pop for Smart People (loosely based on Kat's CD) and two hours of world music with Margaret and Eli $. Officially decided I will be doing a world music show next semester. The show featured some amazing mash-ups done live by Eli, lots of witty banter (clearly), and an ending dance party to Do You Love Me.
Saturday (late) afternoon: Saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Mos Def is incredibly attractive, and the movie was utterly enjoyable.
And speaking of dance parties...
Saturday night: Dance party at the Brooklyn Museum (which is literally a palace) featuring Fab 5 Freddy and music he used to listen to with Basquiat. The best dancers were little kids, but no one cared if you couldn't dance at all. Everyone was all smiles the entire time because it was, indeed, awesome. Despite huge problems on the subways and the fact that I now have gigantic and hideous blisters from my cute shoes. Ended with milkshakes at Toms.
Needless to say, I haven't done much studying. That's what this week is for.
