A Conundrum

As some of you may know, I subscribe to a religion of my own devising, based largely on theoretical ideas about higher dimensions but loosely tied into Catholicism as well. Well, I haven't put a lot of research or work into my beliefs, it's more of a series of theories that I've concocted that "sound pretty good to me." I have, however, hit a snag.

Hmm, now you have contradicting arguments. Your final bolded statement supports my theory that what makes us us is determined by the paths we choose in life. However, in your second paragraph you suggest that your self is already defined at birth, before any paths are chosen.

Now let me argue with you about free will and your theory of a single timeline. Let's say there is no free will as you suggested and that a person's life is already laid out. This means that the good and bad choices are all laid out. Now imagine the poor soul being thrusted into this life, a life that's destined to do bad things, a soul who's ultimately destined to go to hell because of the bad things it will do. What do you think about that? Since souls in hell are to be tortured and humiliated for eternity, then there's no possible reincarnation for bad souls. This means good souls or new souls, some of them will be destined to go to hell since the body they will inhabit can potentially be destined to do bad things.

Now on the flip side, if you argue that souls should not be judged by the actions of its vessel, then souls are free from responsibility and therefore have no reason to be sent to either heaven or hell.

Let me go back to your original theory where what makes us us is determined by our souls. Perhaps the qualities of our souls would utimately sway our decisions. Good souls will guide us in the right direction and bad souls would lead us thru a darker path. But here's the problem, there shouldnt be any bad souls because they should be in hell for eternity. The only way to support this theory is that all souls are reincarnated, good and evil.
