Stuff...
Let's go from sad news to good news and then my baking obsession =)
1. My aunt was diagnosed with colon cancer. She had the first of possibly 3 surgeries yesterday and is resting up.
2. My sister left for the USA today. She's currently fighting for her luggage, and getting through customs. After that, it's a mad dash to the other end of the airport to get on her flight (stupid connections).
3. My grandmother's left side is healing. She can move her arm now (post-stroke).
4. 3 of the 4 expected babies are now born. The first in December, the next in January, and the 3rd yesterday afternoon!! When's Peter expecting? His is the last one. All girls!! Hahaha...
5. Lychee. I think I'm going to make something with lychee. I think I'll try to do the Isaphan verrine from a blog I love. She doesn't always post recipes, but I think I can find suitable recipes to emulate =) Isaphan is the flavour marriage of raspberries, roses, and lychee by Pierre Herme (pastry god). I'll probably adapt my mom's almond pudding for this. Lychee and rose tofu with a raspberry topping.
6. V-Day macarons!! Going to pick up supplies tomorrow (boxes and ribbon). I'll keep some frozen during the week (to preserve flavour) for the girls. I'm not saying I'm going to make it for sure...we'll see...
