on the topic of animations

I've had many many people ask me about how to do animations in icons. Most of my knowledge comes from the lovely mannequinskin, but I've taught myself a few things as well. This tutorial expands to AS3 as well, so you won't be able to do this without an animating program of some kind.

blending options > color overlay > [set color to black] > [set color overlay blend mode to color]

It won't actually make it black, it'll just not be purple anymore. Afterwards, you can tinker with the contrast a little. Just remember you'll want to use the gaussian blur lightly afterwards, so that the chunks of snow don't look really solid, since they will if you contrast the layer.

Thanks! I'm having some real issues with the copying thing it's not copying right. I can actually drag the animation over the image but i don't have the blending options in imageready. Is their a way you can still change it to black?

sounds like you have the underneath layer hidden. It should make the black completely transparent when there's an image underneath for it to screen into, but ONLY if there's an image underneath, otherwise it will just look normal.
