Atlanta at last!

Don't you just hate it when someone is wearing the same regeneration that you are? Ah, DragonCon, cosplay capital extraordinaire. I should have some more interesting photos for Monday's update, as I've seen quite an array of imaginative (and well-made) costumes go by. I'm hoping to find the guy with the well-done "Spaceball" outfit, as well as at least one group of Ghostbusters.

Plus, there is a bevvy of celebrities to stalk! I'll be recycling a "crafted collectible" this year, seeking the autographs of a few more "Lord of the Rings" luminaries to go with Sean Astin's name on this artifact of recording media past: Peter S. Beagle, who adapted "The Lord of the Rings" for animation, Brad Dourif, who played Grima Wormtongue, and Craig Parker who played Haldir the Elf.

Also, Helen "Supergirl" Slater will be appearing there. While I don't have anything specifically "Supergirl," I do have this piece of 'art' that I wouldn't mind having signed by any superheroic type, as I can proudly display it inside of a gumball machine I keep in my office.

And good news for DragonCon attendees: the second Full Frontal Nerdity volume finally has arrived and will be on sale starting Saturday. And I'm pretty sure this one has no (unintentional) printing errors! So come by the Adventure Retail booth and bask in the glow of freshly-minted wood pulp products.

While I get ready to greet the throngs tomorrow, I invite you to dig the following:

- It's been far too long since I've linked to any cat videos, so here's a good pair: Woody's unique method of getting a drink, and a cat that picked a unique perch from which to view the world... or at least, the bathroom.
- There need to be more signs like these. Just to keep things interesting.
- SciFi Wire gives us some interesting travel destinations for when you take your geek flag on the road.
- I think we had its predecessor here before, so let's give some love to Frantic 2, a power-upgrading vertical-scrolling shoot-a-rama spaceship game.
- Worth1000's Photoshoppers present some more Disney/Marvel Mashups to enjoy.
- From DragonCon TV comes this commercial for a certain Colonel and his frakkin' chicken.
- And just because it's loaded with crazy and mayhem, here's Dad Game, a side-scrolling distraction consisting of grabbing things and destroying stuff with them.
