I quit watching the "Law & Order" franchise quite a while ago, probably about the same time I discovered the marvelously depressing and fantastic drama, "The Wire." But recently, a new branch of the L&O Railroad started in the UK. Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber) is part of the copper part, and Freema Agyeman is part of the group that appears before people in robes and funny wigs. Now, I'm a poor judge as to how accurate it is vis-a-vis procedure, but it's interesting to see these actors in situations that don't have blinking lights or spaceships. And Bamber did get the best line of the first show: "We're not just a bunch of pretty faces."
If you want to take a look for yourself,
it's up on YouTube (for the time being). As with a lot of shows in Britain, I'm hoping for a load of guest stars from other shows. Okay, okay, I'm hoping for Stephen Fry, Tom Baker, and everyone who has ever appeared on "Q.I." and "Have I Got News for You." Is that so wrong?
Another bit of video that may be of interest is the upcoming animated Green Lantern DvD. There's a kind of promo/interview/thingie
featuring the people behind it and some storyboards. While they touch on the history of the Green Lantern, I'm kind of glad they glossed over specifics. A friend of mine is a huge GL fan from the comic books, and has every issue in one form or another, I think. He tried to explain to me the whole Green Lantern saga in about 10 minutes. Needless to say, one should never do that with any comic that's been around for over 20 years and expect the audience to take it seriously. :) But I'm looking forward to this; I liked the GL's we've seen in "
Justice League Unlimited" and the cameo in "
Superman: The Animated Series," and I wouldn't mind some more.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't point out the
Duck Dodgers episode where DD gets to wield a power ring for a while. And there's a
part 2. Topping off the geekity of the show, John DeLancie (Star Trek's "Q") plays Sinestro and Kevin Smith (aka "Silent Bob") voices Hal Jordan.
More comic book/movie trivia I came across: Did you know that H.R. "Alien" Giger did some concept work for "Batman Forever?" His idea for
the Batmobile makes me wish it had been used in a live-action "Batman Beyond" film, with Clint Eastwood as the elderly Bruce Wayne.
And crossing into comic book and video game territory, the guys at "Rooster Teeth" (the mad geniuses behind "Red vs. Blue") has made
a short live-action film about the upcoming 14th issue where users can build missions. It's a bit long, but kinda funny in spots. I hope to take a crack at a few missions, m'self, when the "Architect" tool wizard comes on-line. From what I'm reading, authors will get rewards for well-received missions when they're voted on by the community. When I get anything up and running, I'll post the details here, and hopefully hilarity heroism will ensue.
Which reminds me: For a fun time in CoH, make a "celebrity" hero. I whipped up "Carl Sagan" (a gravity controller) and "John Denver" (a plants/sonic controller), and found both to earn more than their fair share of double-takes (speedsters whizzing by, coming back, standing, and then zooming off again, usually). If only there were wav files I could trigger that played the phrases "billyuns and billyuns" or "Rocky Mountain hiiiiigggggh!" out of everyone's speakers.
They see me linkin', they hatin'...
- Star Trek merchandising has spread
into colognes. I know, I know, smellin' swanky isn't exactly something we associate with Trekkers, though wearing a fragrance called "Red Shirt" would probably have suited my dating experiences through High School.

Adventures in Stormtroopering is a photo-comic series I think many here will enjoy.
- If there's an afterlife waiting for you that involves fire and brimstone,
this Rubik's Cube mod will probably be there in some capacity.
- Without the Marvel character "M.O.D.O.K.," I don't think ps238 would have had "Zodon." Therefore, it's only right that we highlight
March MODOK Madness, a blog of different artistic takes on the big-headded bad guy.
- What if the current day version of Battlestar Galactica had been thought up in the 70's? It might have looked
a little something like this.
- 8-Bit gaming too flashy for you? Now you can re-live the 1/2 bit days of the
Atari 2600 in your browser! And to think, I once paid 30 bucks each for some of those games...

Bowja the Ninja 3 continues Bowja's point-n-click adventures, starting with a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" style chase scene.
- Speaking of ninjas, someone needs to find out which one is
training an army of bears. Or the zoo needs to quit showing "Kung Fu Panda" to the animals.
