I've only just arrived, but I've already had an eyefull of several quite imaginative costumes (as well as a few daring ones). Before I arrived, I sent the latest issue of ps238 off to press (early, it seems! Yay!) and I'm planning on getting a good start on a few scripts & stories while I meet & greet at the booth. The booth is in the 1000's aisle of the Imperial Ballroom at the Marriott, so come on by and console me on being too far underground to get my cell phone to work.
After the Olympics ended, all eyes turned to London for 2012, and the mayor
gave quite the pep talk about Britain's innovations in sport. This is Boris Johnson, whom I'm amazed isn't an internet meme yet. His "best material" (and the way I was introduced to him) can be seen on these videos from
Have I Got News For You. I'm told he got elected due to a protest vote against the previous mayor. That's quite a protest. But he's entertaining, if nothing else, right? After seeing those clips, I felt it was my duty to share.
Sorry for this post being so brief, but putting an issue to bed until 4am means I need to take an early snooze this evening. More later, I hope.
Some diversions for those not con-ing this weekend:
- You can be a transformer and/or mecha in the future if you buy a
wearable bike. It's kind of like a Segway on steroids.
- A language warning on this one (the Brits are more lenient with certain terms than the US is): Ain't it Cool News has a video of
the 'No Heroics' trailer. It looks like a higher-budget version of "The Specials" by way of "The Tick," set in Britain.
- From the Momentum Missile Mayhem series,
the third installment with new weapons with which you can make things go 'boom.'
- Semi spoilers abound in this interview with Sylar-Spock and Shawn-Scotty about
the upcoming Star Trek film.
