The fever has broken, my throat doesn't feel like I'm gargling sand, and my head doesn't register above 1 psi when I stick a tire gauge in my mouth anymore. I still cough up the occasional mystery object, but I think I'm well past the worst of the Pre-School Plague. I have admonished the wife to not bring her work home with her again, and she's promised to try.
In comic biz items, I'm still unable to give specifics on that project with Marvel, but they did tap an artist to do the drawin'-purdy work. Her name is
Robin Ha, and I can't wait to see how her work brings the final presentation to print. As far as I know, this will be online with Marvel in a few months, and then put in some kind of printed collection sometime in the fall (I think).
As I spent most of the weekend in a coma, movie news abounds this time out, and much like Ed Wood became known for creating (eventually) guilty pleasure cinema of goofball concepts, the SyFy channel continues to baffle with its upcoming film,
Sharktopus. That link contains mock-ups of the creature, and it's truly a sight to behold. I figure it'll take on C'thulhu in the sequel (because you know there'll be a sequel). And yes, it's directed by Roger Corman. Why SyFy hasn't hired back as many of the MST3K crew to double the revenue streams on their original movies, I'll never know.
From Stan Lee comes talk of an
Ant Man movie, with potential involvement from Pixar. That alone is enough to have me interested, but I do wonder which Ant Man we're going to see, here. And if the upcoming Avengers movie takes its cues from the "Ultimate Avengers," well... we might have two Henry Pyms out there in movie land, one for the kiddos and one... that needs counseling, anger management, and perhaps a restraining order.
Lastly, in super-hero movie-dom, is the trailer for the Woody Harrelson vehicle,
Defendor. I call dibs on the sale of commemorative "jars of angry wasps."
For what I may do to some people's productivity out there with this next link, I apologize: Several of the "Command & Conquer" series of real-time strategy games are now
free to download for the time being. I think it's for helping garner more interest in upcoming
fourth installment in the series. I hope I haven't doomed too many people out there to wearing out their mice...
For those who haven't started downloading, commanding & conquering, there's this:
- From the "okay, why not?" files comes
Resident Evil Monopoly.
- The "Simon's Cat" animated series has parts 1 and 2 of
Snow Business up for your viewing pleasure.
- CSI fans, I ask you: Why hasn't CBS put out
picture frames like this officially?
- While at first blush this seems like a nifty
space-saving coffin concept, I think it's meant to contain a future zombie or vampire apocalypse.
- The current webcomic phenomenon, "Axe Cop," now has an animatic
non-existent movie trailer.
- It's the beginning of the week, and that means we need stress relief. Knock stuff over with
Blocsics 2.
- When trying to come up with snappy parodies for T-shirts (new shirt design post coming soon, by the way), rhyming dictionaries can be helpful, but only for exact spellings. Now, there's
the b-rhymes site that gives you near rhymes for all your poetic needs.
- There's a big "adult language warning" as well as a "if you never played Space Hulk it won't be as funny" warning on
this flash movie about this sadistic game.
- And since we need to keep our minds sharp, here's
Factory Balls 3. Figure out what you need to use on your sphere and in what order to produce the finished ball shown.
