Take That Adorableness, and a Short Howard/Jason Pic Spam

May 11, 2011 06:12

Last week, I ended up devouring Gary Barlow's autobiography in record time. (Yes, I've gone completely overboard on the Take That thing. Let's just accept that and move on.) Gary's story is a fascinating one - halotolerant has pointed out it's a perfect classical narrative, going from success and hubris to nemesis to redemption,- but what's even better for ( Read more... )

Pretty much all of my slash pairings up until now have been stoic secret agent types. If I read, let alone wrote, a story with one of 'em weeping in his partner's arms, I'd consider it way over the top. But with these guys, it's actually happened. And it's incredibly sweet.

Funny, I've just been part of a DW Mag7 chitchat about tears and stoic manly men's emotional landscapes and such :) I seem to have been pegged for someone who writes "extreme" situations (can't think where this came from!) so I'm actually quite fascinated by crying men. And women's cultural reaction to it! And the challenge of writing emotional meltdown without compromising the manly stoicalness of our chosen boys. You may have catapulted me into more thinky thoughts :) And that last pic (and your icon) are totally adorable :))

Men and tears and the emotions of the stoic is an utterly fascinating subject, isn't it? I've always been innately drawn to h/c situations, even as a kid, so evoking emotional responses from otherwise stoic boys is clearly something that strikes a chord with me. But with other fandoms I've been in, the trick has always been to get the emotions without betraying that essential stoicism. With the TT boys, however, you can get away with murder when portraying their emotional response. It's utterly fascinating, and no doubt part of the reason I've been sucked into the fandom so hard, so fast. (Wow, look, I'm having thinky thoughts!)

As for why you've been pegged as writing extreme situations, I can't begin to imagine. ::cough::--Touch Sensitive--::cough:: (Which I recently re-read, BTW, and it's still awesome.)

Oh they are lovely, aren't they... Howard's simply gorgeous, and Jason has a striking beauty... and they both have that physical 'grace' that dancers have, don't they.

I'm looking forward to seeing their performance at the National Movie Awards tonight! :-D

Howard caught my eye immediately, though Jason had to grow on me a bit. They both definitely have more grace than the others, and a nice ranginess I rather appreciate.

Just saw the NMA performance on YouTube. Yay!!!!!!!

The Insomnia Decades has completely become my go to fic for when I need a happy boostThis makes me so pleased, I mean obviously it's lovely to have one's fic enjoyed and remembered but honestly, honestly there's nothing I like to hear more about my fic than that something I've written makes people feel happy *g* So thank you - that made me very happy too ( ... )

All your fic makes me happy, when it comes right down to it. In fact, I had to sit for forty-five minutes in a coffee shop parking lot today (I had Ros home with a minor virus, she wouldn't take a nap, but fell asleep in the car) and pleasantly spent the time reading Still Waters and Five Scenes from a Starship on my iPod. (Moms should never travel without fanfic on their iPods, in case of emergency naps ( ... )

Oh, yes, I see what you mean! I don't know their names but the one on the left in the top image reminds me of Willem Dafoe.

That would be Howard. And that would explain part of my attraction. Willem Dafoe is a long-standing movie star crush of mine. ::happy sigh::

Yeah, I like Dafoe as well, ever since Platoon.

He caught my eye in Streets of Fire and To Live and Die in L.A. Then Platoon put him off the charts for me. I love his Sgt. Elias.
