Paul Bettany Interview

Feb 05, 2010 10:17

Last weekend, the Globe and Mail had an incredibly smart, funny profile of Paul Bettany.

I knew it was going to be good when the writer of the piece started by complaining that in spite of Legion's poster, Bettany hadn't bared his chest nearly enough in the actual movie. (He doesn't.) Then came this line from the man himself:

For Legion, I ( Read more... )

He doesn't appeal to me looks wise -- almost all of the men in my family are blond and blue eyed and quite a few have that sort of bone structure so I think it's genetic aversion *g* -- but his acting ability, intelligence and self-deprecating humour *really* make me a very happy woman indeed. *g*

I'm also thrilled to mention that the other big star in Priest is Karl Urban. *g*

I'm not usually into blonds myself, but I do find the entire package (the talent, the smarts, and the fact that he seems very funny indeed) entirely intriguing. It also helps that his looks are striking rather than traditional, movie star handsome.

As for Priest, I just noticed last night that Karl Urban is in it as well. Yay!

Paul Bettany is now, and has always been utter genius... He's one of the few people that will make me go to the cinema right now... come to think of it, the last think I did see at the pictures was Inkheart... he stole it, totally... *g*

ETA - also - yummy. *g*

Bettany was by far the best thing in Inkheart. (Though Helen Mirren was also lovely as the dotty aunt.)

There's a definite yum factor. *g*

I would love to film Paul simply thinking.

And I would pay to watch it. :-)

Seriously, he is my absolute favorite actor working today, for all the reasons pointed out so clearly in this article. The guy is a marvel.

Thanks for sharing this!

Me too!

Talented, smart and snarky funny. Could he be any more awesome?

I LOVE Paul Bettany. I will even watch A Knight's Tale and Wimbledon for him. Although the Knight's Tale is made much more bearable by nekkid!Bettany. *g*

He's always seemed to me to be smart and funny, and he has that lovely combination of a twinkly gaze that can turn dirty on a dime. Yum.

I tell you - I'm that excited about Priest, given the Urban/Bettany/Gigandet (the only remotely bearable thing about the shitstorm that is Twilight) action, that I may expire before the actual movie comes out.

See, I actually like A Knight's Tale. Love it, if truth be told. We went to see it in the theatre because there was swords and jousting and Heath Ledger (the only twenty-something actor I've been interested in, possibly ever) and fun anachronisms. And we discovered the wonder of Bettany's Chaucer ( ... )
