OMG, I am so excited for next weeks (?) episode!
Werewolves are totally my favorite movie monster (except when Vampires are, which is why I have this lasting love for Underworld despite its cheestastic wtfness - seriously, even the sequel - because both at one time!) and I am way excited to see Supernatural do 'em, but a little nervous too because I'm not really sure it can be pulled off on a tv budget (and the only two movie versions, other than an American Werewolf in London, which is kind of its own thing, that I've really liked were Underworld for its freaky pig-dog wolves and Dog Soldiers which just plain freaked me the hell out).
And I watched the pilot of Blood Ties today while I was cleaning my room and hmm, not bad, filmed kind of oddly (if my dled copy wasn't messed up) and most of the special effects were really eh (seriously, less is more people), but thats more forgivable in a first episode. Except for the vampire fights which used a neat speed-up / slow-down effect in the fight scenes, which may be a cheap and easy way to do it, but it really worked. The cast chemistry was nice too, writing a little heavy (a few times eye rollingly bad), but I think I'll definitely poke the next episode, even if I am nervous about a genre show on Lifetime (ha, okay and there's one bit where Henry the vampire guy is having sex with this woman and she lets out this really loud moan and I turned down the sound right away and am still vaguely embarrassed to think that my flat mates might have heard it and been all what the hell is she watching?).
I seem to have two different tv watching modes lately; sometimes I just have stuff on while I'm doing whatever and then the rare few shows that I give full attention to (which is mostly just Supernatural and Heroes and sometimes Ugly Betty and CSI), which I get all weird and perfect watching atmosphere about (particularly SPN, it has to be dark and not when the dryer is going because its too loud and distracting etc).
And now to clean off my desk and start with the typing of notes! We're almost off for a few weeks of revision and one of my big goals is to have all my notes nice and typed with images in for the ease of studying.
