She's stuck.

But it's not the worst it could be. And considering she didn't kill a bunch of kids, even accidentally, she suspects they're being easier on her than the could be.

Well. "Easy". For a given value of "easy".

She's still stuck.

But not alone. She never really is, and that's part of the problem with Family.

At the school, once, he told people that he was allowed, normal, expected.

Here he just walks until he finds her, and there isn't a person there who would think to question him. Not even after he's left.

Rules. That's really all that is keeping him in check.

"Kitty."

"--Uncle?"

And it makes her blink, but it also makes her smile.

A little bit sheepishly.

"Um. Hi."

He holds his arms out for her after checking to make sure that she's
she's not alright. He just wants to be certain that they aren't treating her badly. That he doesn't...
that she's not wounded. Physically.

She's not wounded physically. That one's true. Sick to her stomach from the collar, and not expecting it to get better, but there's no getting out of that.

And she's still smiling when she stands up--tiredly, but smiling--and moves into his arms.

"I was gonna say I don't think you're supposed to be here, but I'm not sure that's right."

"I could not stay away." he informs her hair, the perils of being that much taller than everyone else. And still too proud to be any shorter, "And I am never, exactly, not with you."

Its as close as he can get to saying I thought you needed a hug.

"I know."

And she did, to be honest, and she's glad to hug him back before stepping back and rubbing her neck.

"Welcome to chez Shadowcat, then."

He doesn't want to let her go, of course. They never do let go easily, the Endless. The Family. Family, in general.

"There is very little that I can do." He informs her, also stepping back but not thinking to make so human a gesture as that.

He can offer coffee, if she can drink it.

"It's okay." That's the first thing she says, and it's for him more than her.

"I--it's okay. It really is. I mean, I'm...I got myself in here, you know?"

And she did. And it was for a reason. Many reasons, really, and they were good ones.

And she's not sorry for that.

Unfortunately, coffee is not so much something she can stomach at the moment.

Mint tea, then, perhaps? He would like to do something for her.

"It...is not okay. I understand, and you did right. It is not okay."

This means: Daniel is angry. This means: Very few involved in her capture sleep comfortably. Mostly they toss, and turn.

Tea would work.

"--No," she allows, "not okay, maybe. But I am. Will be."

And maybe she knows he's angry, and that's why she hugs him again. And tries not to be aware of how much everything feels, because if you think on that, you can't just hug.

"And hey, you're my first vistor I haven't wanted to hit!"

He hands her the tea, mint and soothing. Her hair gets a gentle kiss, as well, and the thing about Dream is that he's not exactly there. Not really. And he can't take the collar off because that is against the Rules (for now. Sometimes they change), but he can mitigate how much she is forced to feel.

At least for now, here. "You will not be breaking my nose this time, then?", and its gentle teasing. If she needed to, wanted to, he would let her do it.

And honestly, that's--a blessing more than just a gift.

Rules suck. Kitty is very firm on this subject of late.

And she laughs at that as she takes the tea and sips it gratefully. "Nah. Might hurt my knuckles."

"This is true." He watches her with those stars of his eyes as she sips the tea. After a long, long moment, "Is there anything I can do for you, Kitty?"

"Don't suppose you could remake the world?"

It's a joke, and she looks up at him and smiles a bit.

"No. I don't really think you can. ...But if you wanted to dance with me, I wouldn't mind."

"I can not."

But, Kitty? He would, for her. If he could. Not if he might, but if he could. Instead, though, he reaches out pale hands to her and lifts her off the floor because her feet don't belong on the ground.

"I know." And it's quiet before she adds, "I wasn't really asking."

Because the world may suck, but it's what you've got.

And she smiles, and it's meant, really meant, when he lifts her up. "It's okay."
