The Incredibles; A-
i have to say the only thing that prevented this one from being an a+ was the character models. its ok when a plain or unatractive actor is cast in a role. it gives the charater personality, but when you are creating the look of a character from scratch why would you intentionaly make them fugly? why? i do have to say that the characters where endearing, the plot predicatable yet fun, and it left me with the unusual desire to see a sequal. overall a very clever movie, and the modern architecture was awesome.
Napolean Dynamite; C
after much hype i finally watched this movie. i was unimpressed. it was touted as the funniest movie around. And at points it did make my laugh, but these occurances happened so infrequently that it was not an efficient use of an hour an a half. I mean i could have watched 10 minutes of stand up comedy and gotten the same amount of enjoyment as this ponderous slog through the trials of a semi-autistic un-hero. The main character does endear himself to the audience, but not enough to truly care what happens to him. we are sad when he gets thrown into a locker but at the end of the movie i don't care wheather he ends up with that girl or just lives his life in his grandmothers house forever. And the culture warping setting just distracts from everything, i cant stop wondering what year it is. Internet dating, big hair, 70s style shirts. what was clearly aimed at creating a blanket of nostalgia for many generations it not only falls flat it deflates the movie into being a mere gag.
