I'm sooooo so glad you liked it! And that I got to make you laugh for a change! The line about Jayne incapacitated by bread was one of my favorites, too. (Oh, Jayne......how I love you. I'm so sorry you never got a chance to show off Vera to Dean.)
Oh, I'm thrilled that the voices sounded them-like - I haven't ever written Firefly before, so it was definitely a change. But Mal in particular just sat down and started talking, and I was all, "Go for it, cap'n. I'll just sit here and take this all down. You're cranky about the stranger on your boat? Okay, got that. And then?" And it all worked out. :)
And River, well...basically, freaking Dean out with creepy knowing!River and her vested prick of a brother was just too enjoyable a chance to pass up.
Awww, I'm so pleased I could satisfy your need for the dinner table! Seriously, I love that dinner table like you wouldn't believe. And also Kaylee. She brings out the non-curmudgeon in me, and I'm convinced she'd do the same for Dean. Especially with all of the engines and grease. I wish them many happy hours of mechanic bonding.
Your joy has made my day a happier place. Really and truly - I spent all morning buying textbooks that cost far too much, so to come here and bask vicariously in your lovely comments is more healing than words can say. ♥
