The latest batch of words (and phrases) was added to the Oxford English Dictionary a couple of days ago and, as usual, they fall into three categories, from my perspective at least:

1) Words I am surprised were not already in the dictionary (e.g. national treasure, overthink, steampunk, chill pill);
2) Words that, due to the linear nature of society's progression/regression, are now meaningful (e.g. social media, netbook, geoengineering); and
3) Words that shouldn't have even been considered, due either to flash-in-the-pan relevance (e.g. freemium, vuvuzela, tweetup) or ridiculousness (e.g. matchy-matchy, Interweb, chillax).

Should words deriving from hot topic current issues make the cut? (100)
