HP Meme Day 26

26. What aspect of the books has been best translated to film?

All books and all movies in general? Characterization, therefore acting is done very well. Plot? Too much is left out to really say. Magic/special effects? I suppose. I mean, I didn't know a hex was red, did you? Or the Hippogrif, which was beautifully done. Lots of detail there, which I always appreciate. Seeing Hogwarts from the lake was also spectacular. Do you remember when we first saw that? It felt like a dream come true. All the "pretty flashy" magic too, thanks Angie. ^^ Was I the only one more focused on pretty colours, when Harry's and Voldemort's wands clashed, than what was actually happening? OH! And then Dumbledore fighting Voldemort! GUH. That was awesomely done too. And GOF. Lots of good work there, loved the dragons and the mermaids.

So all I can talk about is acting and special effects? Acting, yes valid and much needed. Special effects can be achieved by money. Plot, on the other hand, must be achieved by people like the screen-writer or director. Which is why these people are paid ridiculous amounts of money to do so. They've just done a shitty job, that's all. They're just lucky the base material good enough that making a movie about it look bad would be hard. Or at least a spectacular fail.
