I hear ya. Well, not right now, obviously - winter, here, but that shit happens in Sydney from time to time. It's rather strange to see all that smoke against very green grass, though.

I hope no one has lost life/homes.

Really? I thought it was just desert there! Well- prairies can catch fire too. And it does get very hot there. Don't mind me, I'm being ignorant.

Heh. Thanks. I like my green grass too. Summer is the only season I can take a picture of that part of my property too, any other time it looks like a huge stretch of desert with no sign of life. I sure hope that strangeness doesn't effect the growing of it! lol

The desert is in the 'red centre' of Australia. Here, have a map. We get fires in the grassland/temperate/sub-tropical areas during summer, and sometimes they're close enough to Sydney/the wind is blowing in the right direction that the air is full of smoke. Sydney is a little north of where 'Australian Capital Territory' is marked on the map, btw.

And you're not ignorant. I don't make it my business to know about the climate of other countries, either *g*.

Oooooh!!! Pretty. Well, before I just wanted to go to Australia, now I really want to go. Well, learn something new everyday! Thanks for showing me! Now I can show off my knowledge to unknowing minions! I mean... I don't have minions... yet.

*examines map* Okay, I see. Makes sense. BC is temperate climate too. Has it ever rained/snowed ashes?

Can't say it has, no. Raining ashes? You mean actual rain, full of ashy filth? No, though I imagine the irony of that would be quite something. But I have seen ash blown in on the wind, once or twice.

Nope, I meant just ashes like WWII. Irony? lol, why?

So it is possible, huh. Fascinating.

Irony if it was real rain - like water, only full of ash. If somewhere was burning and it was raining where I was. Although I don't know that that would even be possible, actually.

I think fires have to be close for that to happen. The one time I remember it, the bushfire was local - I live close to a river, so there's a whole lot of scrub/bush/golf courses on either side of it, because the land is flood zoned so can't be built on. It burned one summer - no homes threatened, but I remember being in the pool at my Dad's place and ash falling into the water. Was quite strange.

*smacks forehead* Right, because Australia doesn't get much rain. Why am I suddenly forgetting these things? I did watch Planet Earth after all.

Yes, or a big enough fire I suppose. Wow, that is crazy, especially in a flood zone. *finally looked it up* Well apparently it's snowing ash over in BC. O.O No homes harmed so far, but lots of evacuations going on.
