Yellow Paint
Struggling not to laugh Billy Cranston-Scott wiped paint off his daughter’s hands and face. The blond-haired girl was covered in bright yellow paint after a balloon burst in front of her.
“Daaddee,” The girl drowned out trying to wiggle away from him.
“Nikkiee,” Billy said in the same way hoping to elicit a laugh from his daughter.
He was rewarded with giggling. “Stop, daddy,” Nikki giggled.
“What did I do?” Billy asked, washcloth still in his hand.
The three year old laughed, “You’re tickling me.”
“Really?” Billy asked before dropping the washcloth and tickling her sides.
That’s what Jason saw when he walked through the door-a squirming, semi-yellow girl and a red-faced husband.
“What happened here?”
Looking up at Jason Nikki pursed her lips and tried to look as upset as she could, “Daddy won’t stop tickling me.”
Jason looked at Billy sternly, amusement in his eyes and said, “Stop it right now.”
Billy snorted, “Yes sir.”
Jason looked back down at Nikki, “Why are you all yellow?”
“Paint balloon.”
Billy chuckled and filled in the gaps, “We went to the park and some boys were throwing around a balloon. I thought it was a water balloon but apparently it had paint in it.”
“It landed on my shoe,” Nikki said. “I’m yellow!”
“You certainly are. You know what that means?” Nikki shook her head and Jason continued, “Bath time.
“Na-uh…”
“Uh-huh,” Jason scooped Nikki off the ground and carried her into the bathroom.
Not long after that Nikki was in the tub, happily playing with her bath toys and Jason was leaning on the wall beside the bathroom thoroughly soaked.
“You look like a drowned rat,” Billy laughed, leaning against the opposite wall.
“You get her in there without getting wet. I swear she thinks she has to splash.
Billy only smiled in response, looking a little conspiratorial.
Jason’s eyebrows rose, “You told her to do it, didn’t you?”
“Maybe…Don’t even think about it…” Billy tried going to the right to avoid Jason as he advanced upon him but was soon engulfed in a wet hug.
“Too late.”
“Apparently,” Billy said dryly, before kissing Jason. “Now let go of me, you’re getting me wet.”
Jason laughed, “No I think I’ll hold on a little longer,” and pulled him into another kiss.
The End
