Wow it's been awhile

We (ok I) have finally got most of our stuff unpacked. We really need to get rid of the remaining boxes, as Brent seems to have an allergy to cardboard. It's been an interesting few weeks.

Week 1 was spent mostly unpacking. Yes, very interesting, at least for me. You never realize how much crap you accumulate until you have to pack it all up and then UNPACK it. Also spent with my family a lot. Poor Brent.

Week 2 was spent getting the house in order as opposed to just unpacked. Multiple trips to the store, and the storage place. ("We really don't NEED that HERE, do we?") Our cars actually were registered, *gasp*, and we got together with friends in Houston we hadn't seen in a very long time.

At the end of Week 2, through Week 3, we went to Central Texas for a bit. Brent's sister graduated college (double degree, suma cum laude for both, very snazzy), one of our buddies from Denver was in Austin for a day, Brent had work to do in San Antonio one night, and we hooked up with more friends we haven't seen in a very long time.

We came back home, and I get a call from my mom the next morning. She had cracked her tailbone a few days before, and cannot sit for very long (i.e. car and work both suck without Darvocet, and both are dangerous WITH Darvocet). She wants me to come work for her for a few days. Not a problem - I'm not working right now anyway. I head over there, work a half day, and leave to get my sister from school.

On my way home from dropping my sister off at mom's, I run my car into a small Toyota truck whose driver doesn't look before rolling out into oncoming traffic. Greaaaaaat. Luckily, I am not seriously hurt, and my car is probably not totaled. My bumper and hood are no longer flush with the rest of the car, my passenger headlight needs replaced, as does the glass for the turn signal. But there's no engine damage that I can see or hear, and the car is still driveable. The guy admits fault, and his insurance agency is one I have actually heard of. I have an appointment set up with the insurance inspector Monday.

My neck is starting to ache pretty bad by the next day, so I go see the doctor just to cover my ass in case something is seriously wrong. Apparently I have whiplash, surprise surprise. The doctor gives me an Rx for super-Advil and muscle relaxers, advises physical therapy, and takes x-rays of my neck. Upon seeing the x-rays, the nurse explains to me that my neck is actually out of alignment. It doesn't make the "s" shape it should, it instead makes more like an "r" shape. Bummer. This means I have a ton of pressure on my neck that probably will not go away when my muscles loosen up after the whiplash goes away. In fact, if my neck doesn't go back to the right shape I may have chronic neck pain my whole life. Yay.

I am now set up for physical therapy 3 times next week, and more the following week. My first pt session was Friday, and anyone who wants to hear me rant and rave about it can email me.

The day before my birthday Brent had to fly up to Dallas for work, so I spent the night at my mom's. The next morning my brother woke up early and VOLUNTEERED to make me pancakes, and made them just the way I like them I might add. I didn't have to ask or anything. He rocks. Traci gave me a really pretty blue necklace that she had bought in Paris, and my mom and dad got me a sewing table that folds up pretty small when I'm not using it. Awesomeness. (as stolen from le BBM and le CCM)

We then went to my cousin's graduation party, where I got to see a whole bunch of relatives I haven't seen since my wedding. His mom (my godmother) even got me a cake. She almost forgot about it, and I ended up just bringing it home, but really, it was more fun that way and less embarrassing.

My friend Melissa then came over, and we went and picked up Brent at the aiport at 10PM. He was originally not due back until today at 5PM, but he changed his flight when he got done early so he would be there for the tail-end of my b-day. We decided to stay at my mom's, and stayed up pretty late. My mom made kolaches this morning. Yay Birthday!

So yeah, mostly moved in, neck aching constantly, and birthday fun. Busy and interesting few weeks.
