As if my pain meant nothing."So, I've been thinking about Man Pain, what exactly IS it, its awesome power to make me hate a character like I never thought possible, how narratives view women's pain vs. men's pain, ( Read more... )

I started to watch BSG for Athena's and Helo's storyline. I stayed after because I liked other people too but the show worked hard to scare ma away. However sometimes I'm almost thankful she wasn't much on screen - at least her character didn't get a chance to get as screwed as others. And Boomer just makes me angry so i try not to think about it. After all one cannot change the past.

Topher was cute and geeky and most people only saw that. I hated it about fandom almost as much as I hated the Sylar love. Only Heroes were so much worse at giving into the fandom that in the end I hated Sylar much more (even I stopped watching). Evil is not always ugly, sleazy and stupid. It doesn't make it any less evil. At least on Dollhouse he gets confronted with consequences of his actions. At least Topher gets called on being a monster. But I'm one of those few people who love to watch Dexter but never forget he kills people for pleasure so maybe I just notice different things.

I got annoyed with John in season 4 too but I think it's easier for me too forgive him for the same reason I forgave Kara. I got attached to him through previous seasons and I can get that sometimes you get kicked too often, too much and not being able to see beyond their own ass. At least we got Sikozu to make it better.

But thank to you I looked back on many things I used to like and then gave up on and noticed that the main reason I left was the prevalence of your definition of Man Pain. From Heroes to Wheel of Time. I don't have the patience anymore.
