You know, I love Paradise Lost precisely because it's so easy to criticize, there's so much moral ambiguity, and it basically does the opposite of what Milton wanted it to do? (it makes it really easy to argue against the omnipotent, Christian God).
I took an entire English class on it, and it is by far the most interesting text I've ever worked on.

I also took a whole class on it, and unfortunately, in my insanely liberal English department, ended up with the one conservative professor who refused to hear any criticism of Milton, whom she practically worshipped. But I loved the text despite the fail class.

I wasn't especially pleased with Eve, but Adam's, "Honey, please: the grownups are talking," relationship with her provides a lot of fertile ground for criticism at least.

The movie also contains multiple rants from Chris Rock and Salma Hayek about the church and bible's white man bias. And is probably best known for having Alanis Morissette as God. It's not for no reason that this is the only Kevin Smith movie I unconditionally love.

I had managed to avoid the previews, too, until last week when I went to see "Daybreakers" and thought exactly that and was doomed.
Also, that (minus the horror part) is pretty much the premise of BSG in retrospect now, y/y? ;)
