Chapter 30 - First Snow

The atmosphere was quiet for the couple of days leading up to New Year. They all decided to spend New Years Eve together to watch Professor Sumdac's firework display. They were looking forward to the celebration as it was to be their last night before heading for Cybertron for the trial.

Morning came and the bitter cold sank into Prowl's room, fresh snow, the first snow of the new year had drifted through the hole in the roof. Snuggling close to his ninja he couldn't help a small shiver as icy air crept into his joints.

"Mm, you okay, Prowl?" Jazz murmured, tightening his arms around his mech.

Curling against the guardsmech, Prowl gave a sleepy nod. "I'm fine, just got a bit of a chill."

Stealing a soft kiss, Jazz grinned at him and nuzzled him affectionately. "Maybe I can warm you up?"

Quirking an optic ridge at the mech and chuckling at his teasing kisses sneaking down his throat, Prowl hummed and pressed closer. "Mm, well since you're offering."

Stealing another kiss, deepening it slowly, Jazz purred and leaned over the black and gold mech, his white fingers tracing idle circles over the gentle curves of Prowl's frame while he mouthed his lips languidly, relishing the unique taste of his lover.

Darker hands wandered over a silver bumper and brushed over the cool glass of Jazz's headlights, wringing a lowly moan from the white ninja. They slid up slowly along the curve of his chest and down over his shoulders, digging into plating as Jazz's glossa found a particularly sensitive spot.

Their legs entwined as the two mechs rocked together, knowing, clever fingers seeking out sensor nodes, while they explored each other, luxuriating in each other's arousal as soft whimpers and moans of pleasure filled the cold room.

Perceptor wandered through the corridor, he had failed to find Jazz in his room and so, as it was late into the morning already, he was heading for Prowl's room to see if he could find the guardsmech there. He stopped in his tracks as a sudden sharp cry reached his audios. Optics flickering, the red mech picked up pace towards Prowl's room, concern growing as another cry sounded out from that direction.

"Ngghaaah!!"

Almost sprinting towards the sound, Perceptor ignored the startled look and subsequent shout from Optimus as he ran past. Just about to open the door, he didn't notice Optimus catch up to him and grab his arm from the handle and pulled him back away from the room.

"Prime, what are you doing?!" Perceptor struggled, trying to head back to the room as a low heady groan greeted their audios. "Someone could be hurt!"

Stifling a wry chuckle, Optimus held onto the mech fast. "Trust me, hurt is the last thing you're going to find in there."

Straightening, Perceptor tilted his helm at Optimus. "I don't understand." He glanced at Bumblebee as the yellow mech strolled up to see what the disturbance was. "We heard..."

"I know what you heard." Optimus rubbed his face, feeling his faceplates flush in faint embarrassment.

Bumblebee suddenly burst out laughing, receiving irritated looks from both mechs. "What you can't tell me that one of the greatest scientific minds on Cybertron - supposedly - doesn't know 'facing when he hears it?"

"Wha--ohh." Perceptor glanced back at the room and a look of mortification crossed his normally stoic features. "Oh my..."

"Yeah..." Optimus sighed, thankful he didn't have to explain what interfacing was.

Bumblebee blinked in surprise. "Wait, you mean... you really didn't know?"

Sighing and recovering his composure, Perceptor gave the yellow mech a pointed look. "If you'll excuse me. I shall go and prepare for our departure."

"How could he not know?" Bumblebee stared after the scientist and blinked up at Optimus in confusion.

Shaking his helm and rolling his optics, Optimus headed in the opposite direction, ignoring Bumblebee as he followed him his continued questioning echoing down the corridor. A sudden cry filled the warehouse, catching both Optimus and Bumblebee's attention.

"That doesn't sound good." Bumblebee muttered, racing after Optimus towards the startled cries.

"Oh, what now?" Optimus groaned to himself as he ran. "I swear it's like minding a youngling."

They halted in astonishment at the sight of Perceptor clinging to the door frame, intakes panting as he tried to brush off the white icy flakes that had fallen from a warehouse skylight.

Looking from the heap of snow that must have fallen over night, back to the freaked out scientist, even Optimus had to laugh. "Perceptor it's just snow."

"Snow! Just snow!?" Wild optics met Optimus's faint grin. "Don't you know what that stuff does if it gets into your systems?"

Shaking his helm, Optimus gently took hold of Perceptor's arm and guided him outside. "It's not like home." He held his hand out as tiny flakes drifted onto his palm. "It's ice, water, crystallised. Unless you're stuck in a lot of it. It's harmless."

"Oh... ohh I see... well... ahem..."

"Hey don't worry about it." Bumblebee called out, throwing a snowball in Sari's direction. "You should have seen us when we first saw it." He grinned gesturing for Perceptor to join them encouragingly.

"You're certain it's safe?"

"More than certain. See for yourself." Optimus smiled.

Tentatively the red mech dipped his toe in the white blanket that covered the ground and hastily withdrew it as the cold shot straight to his circuits. Shaking his foot, he inhaled deeply and took a bold step, sinking into the couple of inches that had fallen. A soft gasp left his vocaliser as he took another step and another. The others watched in faint amusement as the scientist took it in with all the amazement and wonder of a child.

"Fascinating." Perceptor murmured in awe a small smile gracing his features.

The ninjas promptly joined them, looking very much warm and content, they grinned as Perceptor explored the snow and waved in greeting as he spotted them.

"Brace yourselves." Optimus mumbled quietly as the Perceptor headed straight for them.

The ninjas glanced at him in confusion before Perceptor's voice grabbed their attention. "Prowl, we must have a discussion regarding sound proofing your room." The scientist blinked as he watched snow melt on his palm, before looking at both stunned ninjas. "Have you seen the snow?"

He headed back outside, gleeing in his discovery, leaving Jazz and Prowl cringing into each other in embarrassment as the team broke into laughter around them.
