Room 528 - Early afternoon
Beka returned to her room, carrying a letter that had her Lord's neat writing on the envelope. There was naught else, no package or other letters from her friends back home. Just the single letter from Lord Gershom. She managed to contain her curiosity until she made it back in the room and sat down on her bed. She hastily broke the seal and eagerly read through the letter.
Then she read it again. One more time, to make certain she wasn't mistaken.
No, she wasn't. It were the words she'd been wanting to read for months. Now that they had finally come, she felt her stomach was in knots.
"I can go home," she told Pounce. Back to Corus, back to being a Dog.
She couldn't quite believe it.
