*double-take at someone he hasn't met yet* Wh--!? AH, you must be one of our new professors!!! *grins broadly... and then flails as the statue takes advantage of his distraction to yank the journal away from him*

*wipes brow, rolls eyes at statue* Yes, in fact, I'm BETTER than all right -- I hadn't seen my journal in weeks and now it just suddenly turned up over -- hey!! *another savage yank at the journal as Pegasus tries to swallow it*

*pulls out wand*

Part of it, anyway!! *determined stance* If it'll just let go of the rest of it... or open its mouth long enough for a Freezing charm..... *raises brows at her, wondering how much experience she has in wizarding combat*

*it shoots into his hand and he nods at Seras -- quick, freeze the beast before it's too late--*

*winds up sprawled across the corridor from being swiped at with a stone tail*

*GASP!! -- instinctively throws a shield spell in front of her, but that leaves him open as the enraged statue rears again and he dives out of the way*

*rolls and brings out pistol, shoots chunks off statue*

*egad, you've done it now, statue is NOT HAPPY -- and Gai grins: EXCELLENT SHOT, you've given him just the opening he needs--*

PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!!!

*now frozen, but still NOT HAPPY*

*frozen tableau for a moment as Gai holds his wand at ready in case anything else happens*

There you are! ^_^ *polishes wand to get stone dust off of it then trains it at the statue- just in case*

Now that's what I call being prepared!! Amazing -- I didn't know Muggle weapons would even work at Hogwarts!
